Great product
I ordered this belly pan during the Artec end of the year sale. Due to the large number of sales, it took a couple weeks to arrive. The skid plates are high quality with professional welds. The only issues I had was with the instructions and hardware pack. The instructions and video on the site was for the V6. I have the 2.0 turned 4. While most of the instructions were the same, there were a few key differences. An addendum was available on the site for the 2.0 version. Unfortunately it was a little incomplete. The hardware pack appeared to contain all the nuts and bolts for both the V6 and 2.0 versions. I have a 2020 JLU Rubicon. This model does not have the 48 volt battery under the chassis like earlier JLs. After spending some time figuring out which hardware I actually needed, I was left with a large number on nuts, bolts, a few brackets and a battery skid that I would not be using. Installing the various skid plates was not difficult, was pretty intuitive and could almost be done without instructions. The oil pan skid mounting brackets were also different from the instructions, but were not difficult to sort out. The only part I had difficulty with was the gas tank skid. Using ratchet straps as instructed was a challenge, but did the job. The fitment of a couple bolts was slightly off. I had to loosen, push, pull and eventually undo some to get it lined up. Once that was done it was just a matter of snugging you all the bolts. The skid pans all line up well and the bottom is very smooth with the flat head bolts. I have driven on the streets and also a couple hour off road trip. Everything stayed snug and nothing interfered with any other undercarriage parts. The light weight of the aluminum panels vs the heavier steel version made thus a simple one man job. All done in my garage with basic tools and not even a need to jack up the Jeep. Overall this is a high quality kit that fits well, looks great and appears that it will work as expected. Updated instructions and video for the 2.0 would make installation much easier. If you can perform an oil change, you can install this kit. I am very happy with the product and it’s fitment. I have no doubt that it will take a pounding and last for a very long time. I did my research before buying this kit and it is the best looking, best designed and offers the most coverage kit I have seen. I would definitely recommended this to anyone looking for quality undercarriage protection.

Q:
At the end of the info about the JL Full Bellypan (4 dr, 2.0L, Al) there's an asterisked note recommending a 1.5" or higher lift for the bellypan. Curious why that is. My plan will be to phase in Jeep changes and underside protection was high on my list to start with and lifting was near the end; I'd like to have added the bulk of the weight (armor, bumpers, winch, etc.) prior to lifting to assist in focusing on the right spring/shock setup and tuning. What is the downside of having the bellypan prior to being lifted? Thank you.
Asked by:
Karl
- 2/7/2020
A:
You would need to have a small lift due to the clearance between the front differential and the front corner of the engine mount skids bracketry making contact upon uptravel of the suspension

Q:
Hello, I am looking into the evo high clearance long arm kit for my JLUR and was wondering if this skid system is compatible with that kit? Thank you Jared
Asked by:
Jared
- 7/5/2019
A:
We have not tested this with Evo's kits. This uses the factory gas tank and skid plate mounting holes on the underside of the frame and crossmember. As long as Evo's kit doesn't interfere with those areas, it should work. I would be prepared to do some slight modifications just in case since this has not been tested.

The 2.0L bellypan installs very much like the 3.6L bellypan which is featured in the install video and written instructions below. Many of the parts are shared so you will see some parts labeled JL4101-x and some parts labeled JL4102-x. There are some differences and we are working on an updated video and written instructions for this but it takes a while. In the meantime, here are the differences.
In step 5, the gas tank strap (part 15) may require use of one of the aluminum spacers provided between bracket 15 and the crossmember above the driveshaft. Jeep changed their gas tanks mid-model year and this resulted in a taller tank. If you tighten 15 down and there is a noticeable gap, use the spacer.
In Step 5, you have an extra bracket JL4102-7 that installs into the JL4101-11 crossmember. This bracket will nestle inside the U shape where there are two holes, with the flange pointing towards the front of the vehicle. The two holes on the backside of the crossmember get two 3/8" button head bolts which fasten to the PEM nuts installed in the JL4102-7. This bracket will be utilized later for the battery skid plate.
In step 8, parts 13 and 14 may also require the use of the aluminum spacers. If these parts are tightened down and there is a noticeable gap, remove the bolt, insert the spacer in between the bracket and the frame, and fasten the bolts back down.
In Step 10, parts 6 and 7 are not brackets used on the oil skid. Instead part 6 is the battery skid plate and 7 is a bracket used in the crossmember part 11.
The battery skid (JL4102-6) is attached to the OEM battery skid plate and provides a thicker skid to resist puncture and denting. First, remove the factory battery skid plate from the vehicle (you can install while in the vehicle but its probably faster to remove it). Then take the 6 provided 5/16" PEM nuts and place them on the inside of the OEM skid plate on the 6 holes that line up with the JL4102-6. You will be clinching these nuts directly to the OEM skid using the provided riv nut tool and hardware. See the rivnut video below. Place the PEM nut on the inside of the skid plate and then thread the bolt through the washer, rivnut tool and then the OEM skid on the outside. When you tighten the bolt, it will be pulling the nut against the inside of the OEM skid. Once you have all the PEM nuts installed, you can install the JL4102-6 on the OEM skid using the 5/16" flat head bolts and place the OEM skid back on the vehicle. There will be 2 bolts on the front side of the skid that use OEM hardware to attach the front of the JL4102-6. The OEM skid has a plate the extends up to the JL4101-11 crossmember which protects the lines and hoses for the battery. This plate can be pushed upwards and fastened to the top of the JL4102-7 which is the little L shaped bracket that was inserted into the crossmember JL4101-11. Use hardware to fasten this plate to the JL4102-7.
